One of the Filipino nurse theorists who contributed to the advancement of nursing knowledge and practice is Dr. Carmelita C Divinagracia. She is a former president of the Association of Deans of Philippine Colleges of Nursing (ADPCN), a dean of University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center College of Nursing, a member of the Technical Committee on Nursing Education of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and a recipient of the Anastacia Giron Tupas Award given by the Philippine Nursing Association (PNA) in 2008.

She is also an expert in research and education who has lectured and written about her work as a nurse and has used her hands-on experience to develop better ways to teach nursing.
